ANCHOR: My Word for 2026

There’s something powerful about choosing one word to guide a year. Not a long list of goals. Not a complicated plan. Just one steady reminder you can return to when life feels loud or uncertain.

For 2026, my word is ANCHOR.

Not because I expect calm seas ahead—but because I want to stay grounded no matter what the waters bring.

Why ANCHOR?

Anchors aren’t flashy. They don’t get much attention. Most of the time, you can’t even see them.

But when the storm hits?
That’s when you realize how essential they are.

An anchor doesn’t stop the wind.
It doesn’t silence the waves.
It simply keeps the ship from drifting away.

That image alone feels like the kind of strength I want carrying me through the year ahead.

The Verse That Sealed It for Me

Hebrews 6:19 says:

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”

That word anchor isn’t symbolic fluff. The original meaning points to a literal, heavy, dependable anchor—something sailors trusted with their lives.

And what’s being anchored here isn’t our plans or our productivity.

It’s our whole being.

What Does It Mean to Be Anchored?

Being anchored doesn’t mean life is calm.
It means you’re held when it isn’t.

You might still:

  • feel unsure
  • face change
  • wrestle with decisions
  • ride waves you didn’t expect

But you’re not drifting.
You’re not untethered.
You’re not lost at sea.

What I’m NOT ANCHORED To

My anchor for 2026 isn’t tied to:

  • outcomes
  • numbers
  • success
  • approval
  • how the year turns out

It’s tied to something much Bigger.

What ANCHOR Looks Like for Me in 2026

Choosing ANCHOR means I want to:

  • stay rooted instead of reactive
  • choose depth over distraction
  • return to truth when emotions try to pull me off course
  • trust what’s holding me, even when I can’t see it

It’s a reminder to pause and ask:

What am I anchored to right now?

Because whatever we’re anchored to will determine where we drift—or whether we drift at all.

Carrying This Word With Me

I don’t need to control the waves of 2026. I just need to stay anchored.

I purchased this bracelet from Etsy as a reminder: ANCHOR isn’t about standing still. It’s about staying secure while moving forward. I’ll be wearing it all year long as a visual reminder to stay “ANCHORED”.

A Gentle Invitation for You

As you step into 2026, I’d love to encourage you to pause and choose one word—not as pressure, but as a guide.

Ask yourself:

  • What do I need to return to this year?
  • Where do I want to stay grounded?
  • What truth do I want to carry with me when things feel uncertain?

Don’t rush it. Sit with it. Pray over it. Let your word rise from a place of honesty, not expectation.

And when you’ve chosen it, I’d love to hear it.

Here’s to a year of living ANCHORED, guided, and grounded—one word at a time.
